OXFORD, Ohio,None — Actor George Clooney filmed his last scenes on Miami University's campus for his new movie, "The Ides of March," on Friday.
Clooney smiled and waved to the cameras as he left the Ohio college in a black SUV.
The movie is an adaptation of the play, "Farragut North," by Beau Willimon, loosely based on the 2004 Howard Dean campaign, upon which Willimon worked.
Clooney will play the Dean candidate, Gov. Mike Morris, while actor Ryan Gosling will play the idealistic political press aide.
Unit publicist Tracy Schaefer told WPXI.com's partners at The Dayton Daily News that production would take place entirely in Oxford for one week.
"The production liked the brick buildings and their architecture, which is reminiscent of a classic New England, Ivy league school," Schaefer said. "The auditorium is featured as well as rooms in the business school."
The first few days of production focused on the Farmer School of Business. On Thursday, filming moved to Hall Auditorium as more than 700 extras were brought in. The shoot fell on the university's Green Beer Day, a tradition at the school since 1952.
Clooney is also directing the film with Evan Rachel Wood, Marisa Tomei, Paul Giamatti and Philip Seymour Hoffman all on board.
The movie also filmed scenes in Cincinnati and parts of Kentucky. Production is expected to travel to Detroit to complete the film.
According to "The Hollywood Reporter," "The Ides of March" is set to be released Oct. 14.
