Funeral for family of 5 killed in Bellevue fire to be held Friday

BELLEVUE, Pa. — The funeral for a family of five killed in a fire last week in Bellevue will be held Friday.

A viewing for Stephen Lasch, 41; his wife, Angela, 38; son, Noah, 11; and daughters Kayley, 6, and Hannah, 4, will be from 2-8 p.m. Thursday at Thomas P. Kunsak Funeral Home, 3552 California Ave., in Brighton Heights, according to the funeral home.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the Risen Lord Parish, 3250 California Ave. Both services will be open to the public.

The Lasches died Friday night when a fire broke out on the first floor of their two-story duplex on Roosevelt Avenue. The cause of the fire is under investigation, but the county fire marshal has said it does not appear to be suspicious.%

Angela Lasch’s mother, stepfather and sisters spoke to Channel 11 News Tuesday about the tragedy, which they first learned about by watching the news.

“My daughter's house came on,” Debby Abraham, Angela Lasch’s mother, said.

Fearing the worst, Debby Abraham and Farrel Abraham, Angela Lasch’s stepfather, began frantically calling area hospitals, starting with Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh.

“I said, ‘Curly hair.’ They said, ‘That's him. He's dead,’” Farrel Abraham said. “Then I called Mercy. They told me the same thing. There are two children here, they went down and they were dead.”

“Angela was my best friend. She was always so positive, encouraging and supportive,” Kara Sergent, Angela Lasch’s sister, said.

Family described Angela Lasch as resilient, a strong woman who weathered challenges with faith and hope. Her husband had just started a new job, and the couple was confident better times were on the horizon, Angela Lasch’s family said.

Now, members of her family said they’re being held up by the kindness and compassion of others.

“We thank you. We thank all of those out there, and those who have sent their support,” Farrel Abraham said.
