Giant Eagle voluntarily extends bulk sunflower seeds recall to Pittsburgh stores

PITTSBURGH — Giant Eagle has voluntarily extended its recall of bulk sunflower seeds to five Pittsburgh area Market District and Market District Express stores due to possible Listeria contamination.

The affected product was sold in the bulk food sections of the McMurray Market District Express and the Robinson, Waterworks Mall, Township of Pine and South Hills Village Market Districts with a PLU of 65167.

The recalled seeds within the loose bulk bin were available for purchase between May 6 and May 19, 2016. The affected pre-packaged sell by dates are Nov. 6, 2016 through Nov. 15, 2016.

There has been no confirmed illness with these associated dates so far.

Customers who have purchased the affected product can return the product to the store with their receipt or throw it away.
