HOUSTON, TEXAS — A family in Houston couldn't get the city to put a speed bump near their house -- so they installed protective measures of their own.
"We had about two vehicles that ran in my living room. The cars actually came into my house. And before that, they actually came close to running into the house, or either they came and hit our vehicles or whatever," says Melody Robinson.

Her house is at the end of a dead-end street.
Tired of crashes in their yard, the family spent several thousand dollars installing concrete and wooden pillars to protect their house.
They paid off.
Security cameras on the front of their house caught this spectacular crash as a large SUV headed right for them.
The impact sent the truck flying into the air and narrowly missing the family's vehicles and home.
Robinson hopes the video compels the city to install the speed bumps before the next crash.
