PITTSBURGH — Hundreds of people who bought tickets to a dance competition Saturday night were left out in the cold and not allowed to enter the venue after waiting in line for several hours.
Police were eventually called to the scene after 5 p.m. for crowd control purposes. The reason those people were denied entry wasn’t immediately clear.
Several people contacted Channel 11 to say they bought tickets to an event called “Bring it to the Burgh,” an event that promised to showcase “some of the hottest dance teams in the city of Pittsburgh as well as New York and Philadelphia,” according to the event’s website.
Tickets for the dance competition, which started at 5 p.m., were listed between $25 to $140 per ticket.
Channel 11 reporter Amy Marcinkiewicz said several hundred people weren’t allowed in to the competition, which was held at the Barack Obama Academy on North Highland Avenue.
Channel 11 is working to learn why those people were denied entry into the event.
