"Hurtful words" leads to MSU ban on dorm door whiteboards

LANSING, Mi. — Campus officials at Michigan State University are banning whiteboards from student dorms next year because of what they called "hurtful words."

Campus officials say the ban comes after a series of complaints, ranging from bullying to sexual and racist messages-- not one specific incident.

.  They said the ban came after a racial slur was anonymously left on a student's dorm room whiteboard.

The ban will be limited to whiteboards that hang on the dorm doors.  Students will still be allowed to use them inside their rooms.
