Judge rules charges will stand against man accused of kidnapping woman, son

A man accused of kidnapping a woman and their 3-year-old son in October in Bethel Park will stand trial.

Bryan Celovsky was arrested in October on charges of attempted homicide, kidnapping and several other criminal offenses.

Thursday, the alleged victim testified that the incident started with a shoplifting allegation. She said Celovsky didn’t like the statement she gave to police, so he beat her, kidnapped her and their child, then threatened to kill them.

The woman said she managed to escape at a West Mifflin gas station.

Celovsky’s attorney said his client is innocent and the attempted murder charges should be dismissed, but a judge ruled Thursday those charges will be held for court.

"There was testimony about taking this person to the hospital, them cleaning up together, stopping to get this woman a drink,"  Celovsky’s attorney, Kevin Abramovitz, said. “The idea that the government will ever be able to prove that my client attempted to kill this woman, it's not going to happen."
