PITTSBURGH — Kennametal Inc. will eliminate 1,000 jobs over the next 15 months, a spokesperson for the company confirmed Monday.
The downtown Pittsburgh-based company makes tools for coal miners and gas drillers, and company officials said demand has been weak.
It was not clear which plans will be affected.
The company announced the layoffs Monday as it reported a financial loss and an 18 percent drop in sales in the April-June quarter.
