Family members said Anton Smith was killed around 9 p.m. in the 7100 block of Mount Vernon Street.

Smith’s grandmother said he was a rapper and that her family has been the target of gun violence in the past.

“My grandson is laying around here with a bunch of bullet holes in him. This shooting has been going on for over a month. My daughter’s house was shot up ten times,” Carol Speaks-Haddock said.

Speaks-Haddock said something needs to be done to stop the string of violence plaguing the Homewood community.

“I have asked everybody for help. I don’t know what more you have to ask for. There are bodies,” said Speaks-Haddock.
