2nd sister held in broken hip purse-snatching

HOPWOOD, Pa. (AP) — A second sister has surrendered on charges that she helped snatch the purse of an 82-year-old southwestern Pennsylvania woman, who suffered a broken hip in the process.

Brittany Boyd, 24, of North Union Township, remained in the Fayette County Prison after surrendering Tuesday on charges including aggravated assault and robbery.

She faces a preliminary hearing April 17 along with her sister, 25-year-old Jenna Shay Boyd, who surrendered last month.

State police said the women had children in their car when they rolled up to Mary Margaret Yourchick outside a Wal-Mart in South Union Township on March 22.

Investigators said Brittany Boyd jumped out and grabbed the purse while her sister drove.

The woman took down the license plate and police said they found her property in the sisters' car.
