For a second time during its stay in Taiwan, the world-popular rubber duck display exploded.
According to Yahoo.com, the duck was deflated just hours before it was expected to attract a big crowd for a countdown to the new year.
The duck, which was designed by the same Dutch artist that brought a similar giant rubber duck to Pittsburgh this summer, “burst around noon and deflated into a floating yellow disc, only 11 days after it went on display.”
TAIWAN — PITTSBURGH DUCK STORIES:
It was the second time that a giant inflatable duck -- a bath toy replica created by artist Florentijn Hofman -- had burst while on show in Taiwan.
"We want to apologize to the fans of the yellow rubber duck.... the weather is fine today and we haven't found the cause of the problem. We will carefully examine the duck to determine the cause," organizer Huang Jing-tai told reporters.
Last month, a 6.3-magnitude earthquake caused the giant duck display in Taoyuan to deflate.
