Anonymous donors leave 2 gold coins in Salvation Army kettles

pittsburgh — Two gold coins, each worth about $1,400 were found by the Salvation Army as part of their red kettle drive.

The coins were left anonymously, one at the Walmart in Indiana and the other at the Walgreens in Zelienople.

“Large donations like this go a long way to help reach their goal,” the Salvation Army said.

In addition to regular cash and change, the Salvation Army has collected rare coins, jewelry and other valuable items in its kettles through the years.
