WEXFORD, Pa. — The second-largest school district in Allegheny County is delaying its redistricting plan until next year, according to an email sent to parents.
In October, the school board unanimously voted to move forward with their proposal to move elementary and middle schoolers to different schools.
Hundreds of families in the North Allegheny School District will be affected.
The plan is being delayed because of the COVID-19 pandemic and North Allegheny school buildings unexpectedly being closed for the last three months of this school year.

Here’s the new proposed plan:
- Current K-4 students and incoming kindergarten students will follow the current boundaries and continue to attend their current school for the 2020-2021 year rather than their redistricted school.
- Redistricting for students currently in grades 5, 6, and 7 will be implemented as planned for the start of the 2020-2021 school year.
- NASD will honor the continuation option for current 6th and 7th grade students who elected to remain in their current school.
The district has 8500 students.
