PITTSBURGH — A judge ruled Wednesday that a woman and her father accused of attacking a PNC Park security guard and police sergeant will stand trial.
Police accuse Rachel George of attacking them after she was thrown out of a Pirates game for smoking in May.
George’s lawyer, Phil DiLucente, said an unidentified fan started the fight and shoved George into the security guard.
“Perhaps he’s in the grassy knoll, I don’t know. But I’d like him to be found,” DiLucente said.
DiLucente argued Wednesday that PNC Park security cameras revealed that a third person shoved her into the security guard.
“I want to see the security video. I’ve asked that from the very beginning because perhaps this unknown person will come to light,” DiLucente said.
The guard nearly lost his finger and had to have surgery to reattach it. He is expected to return to work in a couple of weeks.
George told authorities that she was also injured in the scuffle. She was taken to an area hospital the following day after spending the night in jail.
“I’m very sad that all of this occurred. I’m sad it all happened,” Rachel George said.
George and her father, Christopher George, are facing aggravated assault and public drunkenness charges.
