ROBINSON TOWNSHIP, Pa. — The Mall at Robinson will reopen Monday after it was evacuated Sunday afternoon due to a bomb threat.
A spokesperson for the Robinson Township Police Department said that the evacuation was the result of a note discovered in a dressing room at Sears.
Authorities said that the note, which was typed and neatly folded, stated there were three explosive devices in the mall which would detonate at the same time.
All customers and employees were sent home after a decision was made not to reopen the mall on Sunday.
Multiple departments combed through large and small stores for hours, but in the end, no explosives were found. The search, which included bomb-sniffing dogs, remained active until approximately 5:30 p.m. That's when the scene was officially cleared.
Mall security and managers were then allowed back inside. People who had to leave personal items behind will, according to mall officials, collect their stuff on Monday.
The Robinson Township police chief said detectives will return to the mall Monday to review surveillance video. They are also attempting to lift fingerprints from the typed note and are following up on an anonymous tip from someone who claimed to know the culprit's identity.
