DORMONT, Pa. — Police are investigating an armed robbery at a Dormont coffee store, and said the suspect may have been involved in other robberies.
According to police, a man armed with a handgun robbed the Dunkin Donuts in Dormont around 7 a.m. Monday.
Authorities said the suspect was wearing all dark clothing when he demanded money. Officials said the man fled the store with almost $700 in cash and ran down Mississippi Avenue.
“It’s very concerning that this happened so early in the morning at such a busy business,” Dormont Police Officer Thomas Maloney said. “There were people waiting in there to get stuff, but there was no panic. Everybody just stood there waiting for the robbery to occur and then left.”
Authorities said a very similar robbery happened at the Little Caesar’s pizza shop just two doors down from Dunkin Donuts last month. The only difference, according to police, is that the crime happened in the evening.
Maloney said police think the same suspect may have been responsible for both robberies.
“I’m much more concerned with how bold he’s going to get,” Maloney said. “Is he going to start robbing people instead of businesses?”
Dormont police said they are looking at surveillance footage from both robberies and their investigation continues.
Anyone with information on the robberies is asked to contact police.
