PITTSBURGH — Almost exactly one year after neighbors raised concerns about an abandoned property in Pittsburgh’s Beechview neighborhood, the two homes at the site remain untouched and filled with even more trash than last year.
“The garbage is still here. Nothing's changed, looks exactly same,” said neighbor Shayna Nguyen.

Fed up with worry, parents in Beechview asked Channel 11 News to come back and find out why the abandoned homes on Vodeli Street haven’t been cleaned up.
“Honestly, I want to say grass is over foot and half long, which is why we had problems last year with raccoons,” said Nguyen.
Neighbors said they have yet to trap a raccoon like they did last June, but parents said with the overgrown weeds, trash and garbage that have taken over both properties, it's just a matter of time before the raccoons and rats are back.
“It's hard to come out here every day and see your neighborhood falling apart because of houses that are not being taken care of,” said Nguyen.
Channel 11 News cameras found chest-high weeds, poison ivy, an overturned hospital toilet and bags of garbage at the property, looking identical to the conditions found there last June.
“It's very frustrating when you can't have your children play outside at night when it's summertime because of these houses,” said Nguyen.
Allegheny County Health Department officials told Channel11 News last year that they were looking into the matter and planned to get someone out to inspect the properties and notify the owners.
Requests for comment from those same officials Tuesday were not immediately returned.
