CANONSBURG, Pa. (AP) — The principal of Canon-McMillan High School has settled a discrimination lawsuit with the school district.
According to officials, David Helinski will get legal fees, sick days, $22,000 and a pay raise in the two-year-old dispute.
Helinski claimed that the Canon-McMillan School District discriminated against him based on his gender and a psychiatric disability.
The issues surrounding Helinski led residents and parents to speak out on his behalf at meetings of the school board.
Helinski's wife, Maureen, was elected to a seat on the board last year.
