Catholic Diocese of Pittsburgh hit with new lawsuit

Bloomfield — A man claims in a lawsuit against the Roman Catholic Diocese of Pittsburgh, Cardinal Donald Wuerl and Bishop David Zubik that he was sexually abused by a priest nearly 65 years ago.

The man was a teenage altar boy, who also spent time cleaning and doing other chores at Immaculate Conception Church in Bloomfield, when he claims Father Leo Burchianti sexually abused him.

Burchianti is named in a 2018 Pennsylvania Grand Jury report on child sexual abuse, where he is accused of assaulting at least eight boys between 1967 and 1993.

He served in multiple parishes in the diocese and died in 2013.
