Channel 11 runs into plenty of Steelers fans in Los Angeles, ahead of Super Bowl

Channel 11′s Jenna Harner has spent the week in Los Angeles getting Pittsburgh ready for Super Bowl 56. Even though the Steelers aren’t in the big game, she ran into someone with Steeler connections while checking out the Super Bowl Fan Experience event.

From the decked-out helmet wall to dressing up like your favorite player and running routes and catching a football, there’s something for every football fan. That includes the Steeler fans Harner ran into in LA.

“We’ve seen the rings, and we’re seeing all kinds of Steelers fans. Our son is going to go meet TJ Watt,” said Oliver Soria. “We’re just really excited to enjoy the Super Bowl Experience, but really to be as a Steelers fan, because we’ll be back here next year.”

Soria wasn’t the only Steeler fan Harner met. She found plenty.

“All you see are Steelers jerseys,” said fan Nelly Amaya. “Literally, when you were walking on the street over here, all was Steelers jerseys.”

That includes the brother of two-time Super Bowl Champ, Steelers defensive lineman Chris Hoke.

“It’s really cool, but I’ll be honest, it was much cooler when Pittsburgh was playing,” Aaron Hoke said.

The Fan Experiences offers so much to see, including the Lombardi trophy and team gear from all NFL teams. Fans can also see inside the lockers of players around the league, including the new NFL Defensive Player of the Year TJ Watt.

Among all the Steelers fans were fans of the two teams playing in the big game, the Los Angeles Rams and the Cincinnati Bengals.

Harner asked Rams fans about Penn Hills and Pitt star Aaron Donald.

“When it counted, Aaron Donald came through, and that’s all we need from him always,” said Rams fan Vitoria Garcia. “He’s definitely going to take (Joe) Burrow down a couple times.”

Harner asked Bengals fans about Clairton and Pitt star Tyler Boyd.

“When he’s from Pitt and getting drafted by the Bengals, he’s an absolute dynamite piece of our offense,” said Bengals fan Josh Wilking. “Every time we go to Pittsburgh, he always has a big game, and being one of our leaders, it’s absolutely phenomenal. It’s going to be great for his family back home as well.”
