"This was a great team effort from all levels of government, public safety and public works, and responsible parade-goers and businesses," said City Council President Bruce Kraus. "Advance planning and cooperation paid off."
A total of 10 arrests were made, all of which occurred downtown and in the South Side, according to Pittsburgh Public Information Officer Sonya Toler. The arrests were for disorderly conduct, public drunkenness, escape, resisting arrest, criminal trespass, simple assault, criminal mischief and possession of a controlled substance.
Twelve non-traffic citations were made downtown and in the South Side for disorderly conduct, public urinations, public intoxication and open container, said Toler. A non-traffic citation for public intoxication was made in the North Side.
Liquor Control Enforcement cited two unnamed Market Square businesses for alcohol violations, according to Toler.
Mayor William Peduto said, "I want to thank all police and public safety personnel for their tireless efforts through the day and night, and the public works crews who went straight from around the clock pothole patching into working overnight so our streets were clean by the time people went to church Sunday morning."
