CLAIRTON, Pa. — The Clairton Bears went into Friday holding the longest-active winning streak in high school football in the country, but ended the night in defeat.
The Bears lost 42-24 at home against the Monessen Greyhounds, ending the record-setting 66 game winning streak that leaves them tied for the 10th longest in the country’s history.
The Bears streak began in Sept. 2009 in a game against the Greyhounds, and included five WPIAL Class A titles and four state championships.
