Consumer alert issued against pizzeria in Bloomfield

PITTSBURGH — A consumer alert has been issued against a Pizzeria in Bloomfield by the Allegheny County Health Department.

The department lists several repeat high-risk violations from Mia Pizza on Baum Boulevard.

Rodent droppings were found on pizza plates, a mixer and near single service items close to the employee bathroom, the department said. They said this was a repeat violation. There was also no chemical sanitizer in the three-compartment sink setup.

The reports also said there was no evidence of handwashing.

Some food was also spoiling due to a freezer found at an inappropriate temperature. The health department said raw chicken wings were found spoiled in the walk-in freezer. They were measured at 46°F. Cooked pasta and other cooked chicken were also found at the same temperature. The freezer should be held at 41°F or lower, according to the health department.

The health department website will be updated once the consumer alert is removed.
