Consumer Alert issued at Yen's Gourmet Chinese Restaurant

PITTSBURGH — A Consumer Alert has been issued for Yen’s Gourmet Chinese Restaurant on Penn Avenue after inspectors said they found five critical violations.

The yellow sticker placed at the entrance of Yen’s means it is still open for business, but it will be reinspected next week.

Investigators said they found recurrent evidence of roaches and mice, the lack of a certified manager on site during hours of operation, unapproved insecticides in the facility, intermittent waste line leak from the wok stove, and use of unapproved cleaning and storage practices.

Consumer Reporter Robin Taylor reported that Yen’s has a history of serious violations, including the presence of mice and cockroaches.

No one from the restaurant has commented on the inspection.
