BURGETTSTOWN, Pa. — The husband of a western Pennsylvania woman fatally shot in her vehicle was found dead in their home Wednesday, and state police say family members led them to the suspect.
According to police, 62-year-old Dennis James Kern was found in a bedroom Wednesday with what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Police had been looking for Kern since shortly after 68-year-old Carolin Kern was found dead Tuesday of a single shotgun blast to the chest. The Washington County coroner believes she was killed about noon.
Police say family members had gone to the home in Avella, then called police when they heard someone inside.
When they finally went into the Browntown Road home around 5:30 p.m., Dennis Kern had taken his own life in a bedroom.
Neighbors who live in the area say they can’t believe there was a manhunt for Dennis Kern.
“It’s crazy in a small town like this. You figure nothing would happen like this,” said James Runyon, who lives in the area.
A friend of Dennis Kern's told Channel 11 News that the couple had some issues, but he never thought it would come to this.
“They had some problems in their relationship. I don’t think she was very happy and he was just hanging on to love,” the friend said.
Court records obtained by Channel 11's news exchange partners at TribLIVE show Carolin Kern filed for divorce in April and obtained a PFA order. She claimed her husband threatened to kill her multiple times.
