Police: Man charged with DUI after crashing into several parked cars

PITTSBURGH — Police arrested an East Liberty man accused of crashing into several parked cars late Thursday night in Lawrenceville.

According to police, officers were called to the 3700 block of Liberty Avenue around 11:30 p.m. for the report of a hit-and-run.

Witnesses at the scene told officers that a driver had hit several parked cars and kept driving.

“It was terrible. It sounded like a train crash,” Jason Nicholas said.

Nicholas, who lives near the scene, said he went outside and found his car nearly totaled.

“I’m frustrated because I have kids that need to get to school and I have to get to work. Nobody can get the job done without vehicles,” Nicholas said.

According to the police report, officers located the vehicle and the driver, later identified as 29-year-old Deven Clark, on Clement Way a few minutes later and took him into custody.

Police said Clark was having trouble standing up, smelled of alcohol, had bloodshot eyes and slurred speech.

He was charged with DUI, driving on a suspended license and accidents involving damage.
