PITTSBURGH — Duquesne University broke ground Friday on an 82,000-square-foot Health Sciences Facility along Forbes Avenue.
The $68 million, five-story development will house the John G. Rangos, Sr. School of Health Sciences.
The new facility will bring together academic programs currently housed in multiple locations into a single space designed for hands-on learning, collaboration and innovation.
The building expands the university’s developing health care corridor along Forbes Avenue, sitting directly across the street from the Nasuti College of Osteopathic Medicine, which opened in 2024.
In its first 35 years, the Rangos School established degree programs in physical therapy, occupational therapy, athletic training, physician assistant studies, speech-language pathology, public health and health administration.
State Sen. Wayne Fontana voiced support for the project and its economic impact on the surrounding area.
“It will be beneficial to the university and its students, but it’s also a transformational project for our city and our region and will serve as a catalyst for continued economic growth in Uptown,” Fontana said.
Founded in 1878, Duquesne University enrolls nearly 8,200 undergraduate and graduate students.
