WEST MIFFLIN, Pa. — Emergency responders were called to Bettis Atomic Power Laboratory in West Mifflin Wednesday afternoon for a report of a person struck by lightning.
The incident was reported around noon at the laboratory on McKeesport Boulevard.

According to Public Affairs Officer Mike Brewer, a subcontractor from Family Tent Rental was struck by lightning while holding a metal pole in the parking lot of the Bettis Laboratory.
The subcontractor employee was conscious and alert, and has since been released by the responding personnel.
The employee's name has not been released.
