SOUTH STRABANE, Pa. — Nearly three months after a Washington County man was fatally shot in a supermarket parking lot while trying to stop a robbery suspect, the case remains unsolved.
Vincent Kelley’s family said they’ll gather at the scene of the shooting on Monday to mark the three-month anniversary of Kelly’s death.
South Strabane Township police said Kelley, 46, was shopping at Giant Eagle in Strabane Square when a man robbed a Citizens Bank branch located in the store about 2:30 p.m. June 16.
According to police, Kelley tried to subdue the robber but was shot several times before the robber sped away in his car.
Kelley’s brother, John Kelley, said Vincent’s actions that day didn’t surprise him.
“He was all about doing things for people. If he could help you, he would take the shirt off his back,” John Kelley said.
John Kelley said he and his family are hoping police can solve the case soon.
“We’re all trying to get back to normal routine because we still have to go to work and still have to pay bills. But, we’re still concerned,” John Kelley said.
The Kelley family is urging anyone who has information about the shooting to come forward. A $50,000 reward is being offered for information.
“I know he’s still out there. We’re still looking,” John Kelley said.
