PITTSBURGH — A popular gastropub in Pittsburgh’s Oakland neighborhood has announced they’ll be “closing up shop” at the end of the month.
Fuel and Fuddle on Oakland Avenue near the University of Pittsburgh announced on Twitter that the lease for their building is up.
The restaurant also said that rent and “just about everything else” has become too much to keep up with.
“I just wanted to thank everyone for all the years of laughs and hugs and tips and shots,” the owner of the restaurant, Brandon Smith, said in a tweet.
Fans of the restaurant are encouraged to “stop for fuel one last time” before it closes its doors on Friday, May 26, pending having enough staff, according to Twitter.
Hey guys, unfortunately today I’m announcing that Fuel is closing up shop.

Our lease is up, and the rent, and just about everything else, has become too much for us.
I just wanted to thank everyone for all the years of laughs and hugs and tips and shots.
