Future Greenfield Bridge construction project to affect Parkway East drivers

PITTSBURGH — The Greenfield Bridge, which has been crumbling for decades, will be torn down during Christmas of 2015 and replaced with a new steel bridge.

The construction will impact drivers who use the Parkway East. The bridge goes over Interstate 376 and connects Greenfield and Oakland.

The Parkway East will be closed for several days when the bridge is imploded.

The new bridge is expected to be finished in 2017.
