Homicide suspect arrested after SWAT incident in Penn Hills

PENN HILLS, Pa. — A homicide suspect was taken into custody Tuesday in Penn Hills.

According to the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police, Fugitive Apprehension Unit detectives and SWAT arrested Jamaal Cook, 38, of Pittsburgh.

Cook was wanted in connection with a deadly shooting July 24 in Pittsburgh’s Hill District neighborhood.

Deven Anthony Turner, 35, was shot in the back and later taken by medics to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Cook is facing charges of criminal homicide, carrying a firearm without a license and having a firearm while prohibited.

He is being held in the Allegheny County Jail.
