PITTSBURGH — The City of Pittsburgh HAZMAT team is on scene at the Peoples Natural Gas building.
The building is located along North Shore Drive in the North Shore neighborhood.
A Pittsburgh Public Safety Department spokesperson tells Channel 11 that a white powder substance was found in an envelope in the mailroom. This is reportedly the building’s second call of this nature in six months.
11 Investigates sources say that an employee opened the envelope and immediately got sick.
Multiple sources tell 11 Investigates that the substance is believed to be cocaine.
North Shore Drive is currently blocked off around the building so emergency crews can work.
