ROCHESTER, Pa. — One of the biggest banks operating in Pittsburgh is adding a South Hills Village branch in March, continuing strategic expansion in and around the city.

But Huntington National Bank also will be closing its Rochester office, amid a batch of branch consolidation spanning five states, which will mark its third Beaver County closure in roughly a year.

“Huntington National Bank continuously evaluates the branch network and products and services to meet evolving customer needs,” a spokesman said via email on Tuesday. “Our multi-year plan enables us to expand our branch presence in several strategic, high-growth markets, as well as invest in our legacy branch network through building and ATM enhancements.”

Huntington said it will fund these investments through network optimization that will include 31 branch consolidations in January 2023 throughout Ohio, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Illinois and Minnesota. Some 22 of these closures were disclosed in a recent filing with the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency.
