IUP student accused of spitting blood at officers, hospital staff

None — INDIANA, Pa. -- An Indiana University of Pennsylvania student is accused of spitting blood at borough police officers and hospital employees over the weekend.

Lucas James Plumb, 21, of Vienna, Va., is charged with aggravated assault of an officer, harassment and disorderly conduct, among other charges.

According to Officer Jenny Lenhart, Plumb was walking on Fisher Avenue with his face covered in blood and he fell to the ground in a Family Video parking lot. The officer took Plumb into custody for public drunkenness and took him to the Indiana Regional Medical Center for treatment, Channel 11’s news exchange partners at TribLIVE reported.

Police said Plumb became angry and began spitting blood on the officer's face, according to court documents.

Police said Plumb kicked at and threatened police offers and hospital staff as workers were attempting to stitch his nose.
