Local towing companies join together to deliver toys to Pittsburgh foster care service

PITTSBURGH — Local towing companies from across the area came together to deliver toys to a Pittsburgh foster home.

Ian McGee with Lucky Auto Recovery said his company was in charge of organizing this year’s Tows for Tots.

McGee said towing companies from areas as far west as St. Clairsville, Ohio; as far east as New Stanton, Pennsylvania; as far north as Zelienople, Pennsylvania; and as far south as Wheeling, West Virginia; spend this time of year sharing flyers and collecting toys.

Once the toys are collected, the tow truck companies and family members of the employees take their haul to a central location. Once all of the crews meet, they hold a reception that features a raffle. The proceeds of the raffle are then added to their gifts.

After the meal, the trucks form a parade and head out to Every Child Inc. in Pittsburgh.

McGee said 142 tow trucks participated in this year’s drive and about 350 people were along for the ride.

The companies were able to fill a 25-foot trailer with toys.
