PITTSBURGH — A man wanted in connection with an attempted abduction was found at Allegheny General Hospital on Tuesday.
David Cochran, 43, has been wanted for months in connection with an attempted abduction that happened in McKeesport.
The Allegheny Sheriff’s Office took him into custody after receiving information saying he was at the hospital. Upon arrival, detectives learned he was a patient who was under an alias.
Detectives served their warrant, along with three other bench warrants from Allegheny County and one from Westmoreland County.
Notably, Cochran has been wanted since June 10, when police were called to a house on Sylvan Avenue in McKeesport at 7:22 p.m. on June 10 for reports of an abduction.
Police reported finding two victims who reported a violent dispute breaking out after Cochran wanted them to leave.
One victim told police Cochran hit her in the face with a mirror, causing a cut, after she refused to leave. She added that he hit her several times in the face, breaking her nose and causing her to lose a tooth. She said Cochran then pushed a knife against her rib cage and threatened to kill her, before trying to gag her with electrical tape and binding her hands and feet with it. Police said Cochran began to try to roll her into a carpet and used an extension cord to try to choke her.
Court documents say that is when the second woman became involved. Police say she jumped on Cochran’s back to try to stop him. As this was happening, he allegedly said he would “kill both of [them] right now.”
Eventually, police say Cochran got the second woman off his back, carried her to a bedroom and locked her inside. He added he would kill her if she called the police and would get into a shootout with officers. This woman said Cochran was planning to load her into his van, but was able to get away from the back of the house when he saw police arriving.
The first victim was able to reach a knife and cut the tape from her arm. She then jumped out of a window, onto the roof, then onto the ground before running down the street for help.
Arriving officers were met by that woman and witnesses who said she still had tape around her when they found her.
Cochran remains in the hospital under a guard’s supervision until he is healthy enough to be transported to the Allegheny County Jail.
