A man who’s already incarcerated in connection with the shooting death of a teenager in Ambridge has now been sentenced on federal charges.
In 2024, Nasean Hunt pleaded guilty to conspiracy - murder of the third degree for the shooting death of 15-year-old Asaun Moreland in 2023. Hunt was sentenced to 15-40 years in prison on that charge.
Now, the Department of Justice says Hunt has pleaded guilty in federal court to possession of a machine gun. Federal investigators say on July 9, 2023, he was found with a pistol equipped with a “switch” that made the weapon capable of fully automatic fire, and he had gunshot residue on his hands when he was apprehended.
Investigators say the criminal conspiracy conviction in Beaver County is in connection with Hunt’s possession of a machine gun on that date.
Hunt was sentenced to 60 months in prison on the federal charge, a sentence that will run concurrently with his current sentence.
