Man surrenders after holding girlfriend, child against will in Homewood, police say

HOMEWOOD, Pa. — A man was arrested Thursday morning after a brief police standoff in Homewood.

According to police, a man was holding his girlfriend and a child against their will inside a Brushton Avenue home.

Officials said the woman was able to escape and alert police of the situation just after 10 a.m.

Officers headed to the scene, arrested the man without incident and safely rescued the child.

Authorities said Thursday was the second time in the past week police were called to the same apartment.

The man, whose name has not been released, was taken to the Allegheny County Jail.

Officials said no injuries were reported in the incident.
