Man robbed at gunpoint by 3 young teens, police say

PITTSBURGH — Authorities are investigating after a man on his way home from work was robbed at gunpoint by three teenagers in Esplen.

According to police, the teens stole Chris Far’s cash and groceries in front of the Stanhope Street Sunoco around 10 p.m. Tuesday.

“They just surprised me out of nowhere,” Far said. “I thought about it, and looked at the gun. I said, ‘Friends need me, so I better not chance it.’ I have them two cans of Pepsi, and they reached into my pockets and took my cash.”

Far told Channel 11's Alan Jennings that he is a scrapper, and that's how he makes his living. He said he's known as a gentleman.

Investigators said the teens are believed to be between 13 and 15 years old. They fled the scene on foot.

“Truthfully, I chased after them for about 30 or 40 feet. They were shaking because they had a gun and ran from me,” Far said.

Anyone with information on the robbery is asked to contact police.
