Memorial Day forecast: Plenty of sunshine!

PITTSBURGH — If you’re headed outside today to celebrate the holiday, you couldn’t ask for a better weather forecast.

According to Severe Weather Team 11 meteorologist Valerie Smock, Monday will be warmer than Sunday, but still comfortable, with a lot of sunshine. High temperatures are expected to be around 82 degrees.

Smock said clouds will increase late Monday night and there is a slight chance for showers and thunderstorms after midnight. The overnight low temperature is expected to be about 62 degrees.

According to Smock, a weak front will move into the area midweek, giving us some unsettled weather. Showers and thunderstorms are possible Tuesday morning, but the best chance for storms will be later in the day.

“Showers can linger into Wednesday, and perhaps Thursday, but the chance lessens each day,” Smock said.

High temperatures from Tuesday through Thursday should be in the upper 70s, according to Smock.

Looking ahead, she said she anticipates more nice weather this weekend.
