PITTSBURGH — A Pittsburgh-area middle school teacher will go to trial on charges of assault and harassment.
Baldwin-Whitehall math instructor Brian Matthew Paulos was in court for a preliminary hearing Tuesday.
Paulos is charged with misdemeanor simple assault and summary harassment for an incident on May 6 at J.E. Harrison Middle School.

Police said the 43-year-old struck a student in the chest, causing the boy to black out and hit his head moments later.
During Tuesday's hearing, a judge decided there was enough evidence to send the case to trial.
Paulos was placed on paid leave immediately after the alleged incident.
