Mother now also charged in Knoxville boy's death

PITTSBURGH — The mother of an 11-year-old Knoxville boy whose boyfriend has been charged in the beating death of her son is now also facing charges in the child's death.

Cynthia McKee, 31, was charged Monday in Allegheny County with involuntary manslaughter and endangering the welfare of a child.

Anthony Bush, 29, is already awaiting trial on a criminal homicide charge in the Feb. 18 death of 11-year-old Donovan McKee.

Authorities said in a criminal complaint that McKee called for help after finding the child unresponsive, but not until more than an hour and a half had passed.

A forensic pathologist told police that he believed the boy might have survived had he gotten help earlier.
