PITTSBURGH — A New Jersey man was sentenced to over six years in prison on charges of violating federal drug trafficking laws in Pittsburgh.
The Department of Justice said Ryan Mendoza, 32, was sentenced to 77 months in prison followed by four years of supervised release.
Officials said on Feb. 25, 2021, employees at a Pittsburgh hotel notified police that a backpack with a substantial amount of drugs inside was found in a room previously occupied by Mendoza. The drugs were later determined to be fentanyl and heroin.
Mendoza was taken into custody when he went back to the hotel and tried to get into the room.
