BRADY TOWNSHIP, Pa. — A New Jersey man accused of killing his father and stepmother in Brady Township last year was in court Wednesday.
Colin Abbott, 40, of Randolph, N.J. faces criminal homicide charges in the deaths of 65-year-old Kenneth Abbott and 55-year-old Celeste Abbott.
Attorneys spent Wednesday arguing over evidence and whether the case should become a death penalty case, officials said.
Defense attorney Wendy Williams spent Wednesday trying to discredit police, accusing them of entering Colin Abbott’s New Jersey home without a search warrant. She claimed Pennsylvania state police seized his computer without a warrant, as well.
Police said Abbott killed the couple in early June 2011, and then burned their bodies outside their home near Slippery Rock.
Authorities Colin Abbott tried to cover up the killings by telling relatives the couple died in a fiery car crash in New Jersey.
