PA lawmakers pushing to change the state driving age to 15 years old

The legal driving age in Pennsylvania is 16, but two state lawmakers want to change that and lower it to 15 years old.

Each state establishes its own driving laws. State representatives Stephen Kinsey from Philadelphia and Eric Nelson from Westmoreland County are proposing the bill, arguing that the current legal age of 16 prevents teens from working and say it limits their potential employment choices.

In the proposed bills, no changes would be made to safety or training requirements that currently exist. Passenger limitations and night driving restrictions would still apply to new teenage drivers.

Nelson and Kinsey hope to introduce the bill as soon as possible.
