3 in custody after police chase ends in Giant Eagle parking lot

ALLEGHENY COUNTY, Pa. — Three people were taken into custody Thursday after a police chase ended in the parking lot of an Allegheny County grocery store, authorities said.

The chase ended when a black Ford came crashing into a hillside in the parking lot of the Giant Eagle on Jacks Run and Brighton roads in West View.

“He was coming in fast, and they were coming in after him,” shopper Bruce Rivers, who witnessed the last few moments of the pursuit, said. “By the time I came out, he was running up the steps, and he was running behind a house, and they picked him up.”

West View police told Channel 11 News that two women and a man were taken into custody after it was believed at the time that an abduction had taken place a few miles away from the Giant Eagle.

Investigators said the incident began when a public works employee noticed a woman getting pulled into a car on Center and Princeton avenues. Thinking it was an abduction, he called police. Seconds later, the police chase was initiated.

Police told Channel 11 News that the chase lasted seven minutes, traveling through West View down through Perry Highway onto Jacks Run Road and ending at the Brighton Road Giant Eagle.

Investigators said no abduction had taken place.

“We know for a fact that it wasn’t an abduction. There may have been another crime committed, but we are investigating that at this time,” West View Borough Police Department Chief Bruce Fromlak said.

Fromlak said the driver, identified as Andre Jarmel Garner of Alexandria, Louisiana, will face a number of charges, including fleeing and eluding police, as well as numerous traffic violations.

One of the passengers, identified as Kaylone Hines, 23, of Houston, Texas, was taken into custody for an outstanding warrant from Texas for theft.

As for the woman, who was identified as Nicole Daniels, Fromlak told Channel 11 News that she was taken over to Ross Township for a burglary investigation.
