PHILADELPHIA, Pa. -- A preliminary hearing for three Philadelphia area suspects accused of beating and setting a 20-year-old Pittsburgh woman on fire in February was continued Thursday.
According to police, Tamara Rhoades, 24, Michael Rhoades, 34, and Steven Mills, 22, are facing attempted murder, criminal conspiracy and other charges for a Feb. 21 incident at their Philadelphia apartment. Police have not said what charges an unnamed 14-year-old will face.
Authorities said the victim was lured to the home on North 23rd Street through a chat line and held against her will.
The suspects are accused of assaulting the victim, pouring flammable liquid on her and then lighting her on fire, police said.
According to police, the defendants then took the victim to a bus station and sent her back to Pittsburgh.
Authorities said police discovered a second victim inside the house while executing a search warrant Feb. 22.
The victim’s name and condition have not been released.
