Police: Man stole car from Pittsburgh-area dealership, drove it while intoxicated

PITTSBURGH — A Pittsburgh man is facing charges after police said he stole a vehicle from a New Sewickley Township car dealership and drove it while intoxicated.

According to police, Justin George, 21, was pulled over just before 2 a.m. Friday for driving without a registered license plate.

Upon further investigation, Economy police determined that the vehicle George was driving had been stolen from Crows Run Auto Wrecking.

According to the police report, George’s blood-alcohol level was 0.12 when he was pulled over.

Authorities said George is facing several charges, including theft and DUI. George spoke with Channel 11 Tuesday after posting a $2,500 bond. He said he wishes he could erase the last 72 hours.

“It was just a stupid night that shouldn't have happened,” he said.

George said he was walking home after a night of partying with friends when he stumbled upon the dealership’s owner’s Jeep with the keys still dangling from the ignition.

He was pulled over less than 2 miles up the road when a patrolman spotted the SUV with no registration plates.

“If anyone out there is (going to) think about doing that, don't do it. It's stupid cause there's nothing else it’s going to do but get you in trouble,” George said.

He faces a preliminary hearing Feb. 9.
