Police: O’Hara Township house fire being investigated as suspicious

O'HARA TOWNSHIP, Pa. — A suspicious fire is being investigated in O’Hara Township after a fire broke out at a home along Powers Run Road Thursday afternoon.

The O’Hara Township police chief said the fire is suspicious, which has many neighbors worried.

“It’s very alarming,” said neighbor Nancy Snider.

Snider was shocked to hear it turned out to be a crime scene.”It’s really kind of horrifying because crime is all over the country, and this is a very peaceful neighborhood, and you don’t think of anything in O’Hara like this happening,” said Snider.Exclusive Ring camera video shows the smoke softly building up for hours before anyone called 911.

Fire crews were on scene for several hours while they had the road blocked off near the O’Hara Elementary School.

The house has a for sale sign in the front yard. Some neighbors said they did not know of anyone living there recently.

The suspicious fire has raised a lot of questions and concerns for neighbors, who are wondering if this was a possible arson.

“I don’t like having this in my neighborhood, especially a fire that’s right next to my house,” said Snider. As of Thursday night, the fire marshal is investigating. Meanwhile, some neighbors said they are going to be extra cautious and aware of their surroundings until they get more answers.
